Ontario Energy Board Act

The Ontario Energy Board Act outlines the mandate of the Ontario Energy Board with respect to the regulation of the electricity and natural gas markets in Ontario. The Board sets rates, licenses certain participants in the electricity and natural gas sectors, and has created a number of regulations aimed at protecting consumers, which it also enforces. While the OEB regulates the price of natural gas for low volume customers, there is still considerable volatility in its price—one way for housing providers to obtain lower, more stable prices is to participate in SHSC’s bulk purchasing program.
